How to keep yourself entertained in the 21st century.

This is how the young minds of the 21st century enjoy their time.

Accept it or Not but entertainment is an essential part of any happy and normal life.

Entertainment has been a huge part of human lives throughout history. While some civilizations entertained themselves with dance, music, poetry; others preferred much more brutal forms such as gladiator fights/duels. Some were as cruel as arranging fights between animals like dogfighting, cockfighting, etc.

Irrespective of whether we agree on the morality of their preferred choice of entertainment, we have to agree that every individual or civilization for that matter yearned for some sort of entertainment to divert their minds for a bit and relax.  There's also no denying that entertainment also proved to be a great way of moneymaking because of which modern music, gaming, and other entertainment industries thrive.

With all the stress that surrounds our minds in the current times, it becomes even more necessary to allow yourself to chill out a bit and whats better way to do so than indulging in some form of entertainment or the other.

As the years go by we are introduced to more and more ways of indulging ourselves in some form of entertainment or the other and right now the options we have are really endless.

I prefer to categorize the types/ways of entertainment into two major categories:

1. Electronic Media Entertainment.
2. Live entertainment.

Electronic Media Entertainment:

The technology we are blessed with doesn't just make our lives easier by assisting us with the majority of our daily jobs but also makes our lives more enjoyable. We, humans, have figured out several ways we can use electronic media and technology to keep us entertained. Some prominent of which are:

1. Movies/cinema:

We can probably say that this is one of the oldest forms of electronic media entertainment and even though it has taken a beating with the advent of the internet we don't see it going down anytime soon.

The film industry is one of the largest and most successful industries in the world which produces hundreds of films/movies every year in thousands of languages and over a dozen genres. They sure have something to suit everyone's taste.

One might just visit a nearby Cinema (we have one around every corner nowadays) or if you are more of an introvert type (like me) who prefer staying at home then you may just borrow one from a friend or download one and watch it at the comfort of your home on your home theatre, smart TV, PC or even your smartphone. The advent of Netflix has completely revolutionized this concept and considering how successful it has been you might expect further development in this branch of entertainment.

2. Television:

The Television or as some like to call it the Idiot box has been a source of entertainment for decades now. Most of us have some really great memories attached to it like waking up in the early morning to watch that favorite cartoon as a kid or staying up late at night to finish that important spots match or your favorite series.

The post-internet generation might not value this box as much as the Millenials do but it definitely remains one of the staple forms of entertainment and a pretty cheap one too.

3.Web and Internet:

This is the thing that completely revolutionized the whole entertainment industry. Without exaggerating a bit this thing brought entertainment sources to your fingertips. Gone are the days when you'd have to either watch or listen to the things the TV or the Radio throughs at your or go around to buy/borrow the movie or song you actually like. The internet has given the control into your own hands, now no one can force you to watch something you don't want to and you're free to watch, read, listen or do anything you like according to your choice and comfort right at your fingertips.

4.Video Games:

From Super Marios Bros to Pubg. The gaming industry has come a long way. Playing video games to keep yourself occupied as well as entertained is not something new and has been going on for decades but has reached a new level with the advent of smartphones.

While sometime back you needed a gaming console or a personal computer to play such games which were quite costly so only a few could afford it, the advent of smartphones changed it all. Now nearly every household has a pair of smartphones that are equipped with some really fun games but don't let that small screens fool you, those small screens pack quite a punch and handle some really high graphic console-level games.

The popularization of multiplayer games is another significant attribute. Games such as Pubg, Call of Duty, Dota and League of Legends are extremely pop[ular and are played across the world.

5. Radio and Podcasts:

While not so popular in today's times, radio was an extremely reliable and staple source of entertainment even a few years back. Even today you might find it extremely useful if you're traveling somewhere, just plug it on in your car or smartphone and you'll be surprised how the time flew by while you are at it.

Another really awesome( and my favorite) option to keep yourself entertained, especially while you're traveling is listening to podcasts. Youll find a really vast range of topics you can choose from and it will not only keep you entertained but will also help you gain a little extra bit of knowledge as well as improving your English and speaking skills. A similar option might be listening to audiobooks. These are some really intellectual ways of keeping yourself entertained.

Live Entertainment:

Every city or town is abundant with several places of interest that one may visit to keep himself entertained. Such kind of entertainment may be called live entertainment. Places and businesses which provide you with entertainment for a certain price have existed for thousands of years and continue to do so. Some modern examples of this may include:

1.Theatre:

This is an art lovers' paradise. From Shakespearean plays to some modern and humorous takes on historic tales, you'll find it all. Theatres continue to operate across the world and carry with them a certain cultural legacy. Youll find some incredible storytelling and brilliant acting pieces across theatres. You might as well join a theatre group yourself that'll not only keep you entertained but also help you develop a really fun hobby.

2.Concerts:

Music has constantly been used as a stress reliever across ages and will continue to be used so. From some really popular international performers to some really impressive local talent, DJ's, singers and whatnot. Concerts are becoming more and more popular with the youth. Weekly events and regular carnivals are becoming routine in every city now and they are an excellent way to entertain yourself.

3.Museums and Exhibitions:

While many may find this one boring but to the knowledge buffs, this is what heaven looks like. Every city and towns are blessed with some really interesting history which are exhibited through their local museums. There are also numerous exhibitions around that display some real masterpieces of art. There are also science fairs and antique displays around too to intrigue the nerd in you.

4.Sports Events:

This is more like the Gladiator stuff we had back in those days but is a lot sophisticated and less life-threatening. But the competitive spirit remains the same. From cricket, football, tennis, boxing, and ufc you'll find all major sports programs being conducted every now and then and if your city is lucky enough there'll be one in your city too. The sports enthusiast finds nothing better than standing in a stadium and cheering(more like crazily shouting) for their favorite team or player and if you are one of that too then you might just have found the perfect way of entertaining yourself.

5.Circus and Live events:

Circuses have been around for several hundred years now and if you're lucky enough to happen to visit one you know what kind of a spectacle they can be. From magic to dangerously inhumane stunts you can have a once in a lifetime experience from them.

Apart from those mentioned above one might also consider visiting historical places, amusement parks, zoos, gardens, etc; playing indoor games, sports, musical instruments, dancing and reading magazines and novels to be some really fine ways of keeping yourself entertained.

Conclusion;

Entertainment is all about having fun and forgetting about all the worries and problems you have, at least for the moment being. Entertainment is about letting out the kid in you yearning to be freed, to laugh, to cry, to pour his heart out.

Entertainment is the asylum to which one retreats in order to escape the troubles of your daily lives.

Every Life or say the story has its set of ups and downs, Troubles and problems, Memories both good and bad. But it's the good memories that make life worth living and what better way of creating some good memories than having fun, indulging in entertainment both alone and with those you love.
So keep having fun and continue keeping yourself entertained.

The Key to Self Improvement

Tried and tested method by which thousands if not Millions have transformed themselves into better individuals and how you can too...

Before we begin going all out with our discussion, tips, and tricks for self-improvement,

Let me tell you a short story.

The story of two brothers named Harry and Barry. Harry and Barry were identical twins. They looked so similar that at times even their parents would not be able to differentiate between them.
But one strong characteristic that significantly made them different was that while Harry was well mannered, honest, trustworthy and hard-working, Barry was simply the opposite.

Barry always found it difficult to control his anger, tongue, and emotions. He was quite provocative, materialistic, and had a habit of blameshifting. This made him quite unpopular among his classmates and friends. Because of his volatile nature, he found it really difficult to make and maintain friends.
Being Barry's brother had its consequences too. Even though Harry was quite the opposite of Barry and was liked by most of his classmates, they were quite reluctant to make him a part of their group considering he was Barry's brother.

One day while Harry was rushing towards the cafeteria to have his lunch, some of his classmates mistook him for Barry and Harry heard the say "Hey! you recognize that guy over there? He's from the B section and you know he is such a brat, no wonder no one wants to be seen around him leave alone befriend him."

This hurt Harry deeply and was the point where he decided he needs to draw a line and stop this treatment towards him and Barry once and for all. But this wasn't possible unless and until Barry himself decides to mend his ways.

Even though Barry was a hard guy, if there was anyone for whom he had a soft corner then it was Harry. Barry loved his brother deeply cause he knew he was the only person who never judged him or made him feel bad about himself. Harry knew this and was sure that Barry will value his advice and will listen to him.

It wasn't like Barry of all persons was didn't care about what people thought of him and was enjoying being rude to others. He, in fact, felt sad and left alone because of this but didn't know how to change it.

One fine day Harry finally confronted Barry and said with a heavy heart "Barry, this needs to stop. You can't go around being rude, disrespectful and hurting others but most importantly yourself. If you continue like this you and me both will be left with no friends and we'll be left all alone in this whole wide world." These words had a deep impact on Barry and he explained to his brother that he wants to change but doesn't know how to.

Harry knew he got Barry's undivided attention at this point and explained his plan to him that they'll make an agreement with each other that whenever Barry will let his bad side take over him and make him indulge in some bad habit or behavior than at the very moment Harry will confront him with either a stern warning, a pinch or a slap on the back if needed. They both agreed to this.

From the very next day, they started their mission to self-improvement. That very day they went to the supermarket along with their parents where Barry saw a kid of almost hi age indulging on icecream. Barry being Barry allowed his materialistic ugly side to take over and he started demanding the same icecream and eventually started creating a scene. Harry jumped in and gave a tight squeeze just above Barry's elbow and gave him a mouthful that he shouldn't behave like this. Having a brother of his same age scolding him and subsequently advising him made Barry felt a little ashamed and he stopped the ruckus at the very exact moment.

Days passed and with some difficulty but slowly with each passing day Barry developed more and more control over his language, emotions, and temper. One day while the brothers were climbing down the stairs on their way back home, a boy rushed by them accidentally crashing with Barry making him fall. The boy soon apologized but as Barry was about to lash out at him he noticed his brother ready to either pinch or slap him hard across his back. Realizing so he stopped and took control over his emotions, smiled at the boy and said it was okay.
Eventually, there came a day at being polite and well mannered became second nature for him and thus the brothers were embraced with open arms among their classmates.

Well, each of us has a pair of Harry and Barry inside us and the kind of person we turn into depends on whom we let take the control over our feelings, emotions, and reactions. The Harry inside us is our conscious part over whom we have control and the one who doesn't like being a brat and instead wants to be polite and well behaved. Whereas the Barry inside us is our Unconscious part over whom we have little control and whose habits and behavior is a result of the long history of our own selves being ill-mannered, disrespectful and wrong decisions which slowly get imprinted on our unconscious mind and hence becoming second nature.

But like any muscle in our body our mind specifically our subconscious mind can be trained, to act accordingly the way we want it to and our actions as well as reactions to different situations can be accordingly trained as well. The fact of the matter is that our unconscious mind requires the conscious one to train it similar to how Barry required Harry to change him. So it's our responsibility to give the steering wheel of our mind into the hands of Harry until Barry gets pretty trained himself

So how do we do it? Well, we've got you covered. Follow the instructions step by step and were sure by the end of this article you'll have a complete idea of how to train your subconscious mind into being that responsible and dutiful barry.

Step-1: Address the problem with yourself.

Similar to how Harry confronted his brother over his ill habits, you need your conscious mind to confront the unconscious one and address the whole situation there.
An easy way to do this is by noting down every ill action or behavior you commit to in the whole day from morning to evening on a small sheet of paper(or maybe quite large sheet of paper if you feel like you are quite the notorious one) and review them before going to the bed each night.
Just addressing the problems will go a long way as it will make you realize how you are messing up your life and of those around you, those whom you love and care about. This will generate a sense of guilt inside yourself which will, in turn, provoke you to stop committing those mistakes repeatedly.

Step-2: Stop repeating those mistakes and try to quit those habits completely.

Now that you're aware of the faults, try to avoid them and eventually quit doing them.
Take one step at a time and address each problem individually. Constantly remind yourself of the ill effects it's causing in your life and how you'll eventually suffer if you do not quit them. Do your best and never give up on this. This is the hard part but believe me, you have what it takes to make it through this.

Step-3: Replacing the negative habits and behaviors with positive ones.

The Human mind is a complex thing. The more you try to divert its attention from something the harder it'll try to focus on it. Like for example, God said to Adam and Eve that they can eat anything they like from those plush and abundant gardens of paradise but not from that one single tree i.e the apple. Yet Adam and Eve with some provoking from satan ended up eating it.

The process of avoiding ill habits and behavior will become a hell lot easier if you have something to distract yourself from it, or an alternative or a backup plan of some kind.

To explain this point clearly, let's take an example. Most of us have a habit of binge-watching TV, the problem here is we don't actually watch tv because we want to but because we are bored and have become habituated to watch it whenever we feel were bored or have nothing to do. So, instead of trying yourself to avoid watching TV which will make you focus on that shit machine, even more, the easier and more effective option is to assign an alternative to watch TV. For example, you can commit to yourself that you'll read a book whenever you'll feel bored which is a much more productive and better way to pass through the boredom.

Likewise, you can allot more and more alternative like instead of eating those box full of cookies you may have an apple or instead of going out for that late-night party every week you may try spending some family time or maybe watch a valuable documentary, the options are endless

Step-4: Rewarding yourself for every good action and punishing yourself for every bad one.

So, the actual problem is solved. You've stopped doing those ugly actons and bad choices and even replaced them with good, positive ones. I appreciate your efforts if you've come this far.

But there are still some minor things missing.

You see this whole process is like baking a cake. The stage of addressing the habits and quitting them was like the main body of the cake. The stage of replacing them with positive ones was like the added delicious cream. But wheres the toppings? Without them, the cake tastes good and is no doubt a cake but it'll be a lot better if wed add some toppings to it, like some choco ships, some wafers, etc.

The toppings, in this case, are step-4. In this step you'll reward yourself for every good action you'll do and punish yourself for every bad one.

The thing is the human psychology works in this certain way that when you are rewarded for doing something you are more likely to do it again and again and when you are punished for the one you'll likely try to avoid doing it latter.

For example, fitness is your primary goal for this year and you love a specific cookie. Then you may reward yourself with a single cookie every day if you've gone for an hour-long walk in the morning and similarly punish yourself by not allowing yourself to have that cookie in case you've missed the walk.

The options are endless in this scenario.

Some people go as far as having a rubber band around your arm and using it to punish themselves for every wrong action though we will not encourage this cause this may harm your nervous system. Anything other than the extremes is acceptable and highly encouraged.

With the toppings now in place your cake is ready for you to indulge in.

Remember the road to self-improvement is not an easy one and requires extreme determination to make a change, shear patience and will power. But everyone no matter how old they are or how deep they've corrupted their unconscious self have the ability to change themselves for the better.

With this, I leave you and wish you all the very best in your journey to self-improvement towards a better, happier and merrier you!

How Celebs get fit in such short amount of time and how you can get too...

Ever wondered how this celebs get shredded in such short amount of time? do they possess some kind of a magical drug we are unaware of ?  lets find out...

Every year we witness some or the other celebrity who used to be really scrawny or extremely obese suddenly change into the best shape of his life and we are left wondering how he/she actually achieved this.

While our mind generally wonders towards cheats such as steroids and all, the truth be told is that in most instances that's not the case.

To prove our point let us look at some of the celebrities that achieved a really drastic and impressive transformation:

1.Chris Hemsforth for Thor:

We all were enchanted by the impressive physique Chris Hemsworth achieved to compliment his Greek god looks in order to play Thor in the avengers movies.
but let us look back at how exactly he was before preparing for Thor.
Hemsworth has always been fit and strong thanks to his background in sports and fitness. He wasn't that big but were sure that he was not new to the world and life of fitness when he started his journey as Thor.
He trained for months in a traditional bodybuilding split for five days a week and also took mma classes to help him out in the fighting sequences. He also had several small protein rich meals throughout the day and abstained from junk foods at all cost.

As a result of his hard work he was able to gain over 20 pounds of lean muscles to get into the skin of Thor.

2.Jake Gyllenhal for Southpaw

Jake Gyllenhall is not new to making transformations but his most impressive one for mes is the one got to play the role of a boxer in the movie southpaw.
To play a fighter Jack thought it was only befitting if he trained like one. He went to the gym twice a day for the regular weightlifting while also taking boxing classes.

He's an fan of skipping ropes and it's said that he did lots and lots of it to improve his footwork as a boxer and also to burn of those extra kilos to show off those abs.
Saying before that he's not new tor transformations, it shouldn't come as a shock that he gained an impressive 28 pounds of lean muscle for this role.

Apart from all those workouts he also started his day with nearly 1000 sit ups and an eight mile run and also some extensive body weight movements such as a 100 push ups, pull ups and triceps dips etc. Woah!.

3.Zac Efron for Baywatch

To be honest Zac Efron was quite lean before Baywatch and he seriously had to put on a lot of weight for his role as a lifeguard.
But it wasn't an easy process. In his own words Efron's says" It take twice-daily workout, months of being "virtually carb free" and hours of lifeguard training" to carve out that impressive physique.
As he said it was really really hard for him to continue the lifestyle it required to maintain that physique and its something he isn't a big fan of and doesn't encourage others to be obsessed about so.

4.Aamir Khan for Dangal

In this case not just the visuals but the stats of transformation are amazing too.
For Dangal, Aamir Khan went from 97kgs with 38% body fat to about 70kgs with just about 9% body fat. That's a hell of a transformation but lets look at how exactly was Khan before getting all that chubby and fat.
Before becoming all the chubby and fat Aamir had an average healthy body and had some dense lean muscles coming straight out of PK.

So we know he had a really good physique even before getting all that fat and even when he became so it was just some hard layers of fat covering those muscles but the muscles were still there.
All he had to do was loose those extra layers of fat and get some more muscles build up. Now I know that isn't easy too but its a hell lot easier for Aamir who had a serious background in the lifting department for years now than just a normal guy new to the whole phenomenon of bodybuilding.

5.Hilary Swank for Million Dollar Baby

Hilary Swank got into an impressive shape to play the role of a badass boxer Maggie Fitzgerald.
To achieve it she had to undergo a gruesome training of about 4-6 hours of daily workouts of boxing, weight lifting and cardio. Her trainers also made sure that she was eating every 90 minutes.
She herself said that she had to break through some real mental barriers in order to achieve this.

So, whats the secret we find common in all of this amazing transformation?

The secret is, there is no secret at all but shear hard work, patience and determination.

There is no such magic workout or magic diet that will get you in shape in weeks or days. The harsh truth is that it is impossible to achieve results unless you are willing to put in hard work for it.
If you want to achieve that impressive physique that you've been desiring so long then there is no other way than to get your ass to the gym and get it to work. Follow a set of workout plan daily and take a day or two off each week. You may start with a full body workout plan if you are a beginner and as you progress you may shift towards other typical workout plans such as push-pull-legs or upper-lower or the bro split.

Also try to put in a couple of hours of cardio into you schedule.

By looking at all of those transformations we know one thing that the key to get into the best shape of you life is Consistency.Even if you can spare just an hour daily for exercise, do so and make it consistent. Slowly but surely you'll see the results.

Another thing that play an important role in fitness and a healthy lifestyle is the diet.
Fitness begins in the kitchen. No matter how many hours you put in the gym, you'll not see any impressive results unless you are eating the right diet for it. Without making it any more complicated just remember that you need to eat a healthy protein rich diet and avoid all the packed and junk food.

Apart from all this, one needs tor remember that fitness isn't just about a couple of hours of exercise and a few diet rules, instead fitness is a complete lifestyle. For this, you should try to incorporate as much physical activity into your daily schedule as possible, try taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking an extra mile instead of taking a cab or riding there.

One might also notice that apart from the workouts, all the individuals mentioned above made it a point to incorporate some another form of physical activity like some sport, boxing or swimming for example. This really helps out too cause it helps you burn some extra calories while you are also having a good time.

Above anything else, remember consistency and hard work is the key. If you can put in the effort daily and hustle to achieve your fitness goals you will surely reach them no matter what.
